ANNEXED NOTE

1. Characteristics of data and definitions

The table provides intercensal estimates of Qatar’s total resident population (nationals and non-nationals) based on census results (1986; 1997; 2004; 2010, 2015 and 2020),
The standard age- group component methodology is used to provide population size in the base month (May) in five-year age groups.
The calculation is carried out by separate estimates for males and females separately in five-year age groups for Qataris and non-Qataris individually according to the following assumptions:
a. The population growth rate between the end of April and the end of May is the population growth rate for June. This rate is applied to estimate the population on June 30 of each year.
B. The relative distrib4. Data availability ution of population by single of age at the end of May is the same at the end of June after making estimates for each 5-year age group.
See the full “methodology” section in the “Population” section of the publication.
